A young woman returns to her Ukrainian homeland, honouring the dying wish of her grandmother to repair wounds with her long lost family, but finds herself on the edge of the ongoing war.
Set in 2017, just 3 years after the Russian invasion in 2014, Barvinok weaves traditional polyphonic Ukrainian folk music and dramatic storytelling to tell a personal story behind the unimaginable experience of war, both past and present.
This is a digital recording of the celebrated theatre performance, filmed in Edmonton, AB in September 2022.
Proceeds from this video will be donated in support of Ukrainian veterans of the Bob Marley Squad to purchase nonlethal defensive equipment.
